About Us

The Miami Skating Academy was initially formed in 2016 from the former Oxford Skating Club.  At that time, the Miami Skating Academy was operated as a community organization under the umbrella of Miami University. 

In the fall of 2021, the Miami Skating Academy Parents organization formed to assist families with the costs of skating through fundraising. 

During the 2021-2022 season, the need arose for the two groups to become one unified organization.

With the beginning of the 2022-2023 skating season, we are now a full United States Figure Skating (USFS) club, organized and operated by a volunteer parent board, that is dedicated to helping skaters have a safe, fun, and positive environment for their individual skating paths.  

We support these young athletes as they train for and compete in local and regional competitions in both individual and team events. We organize skating events and programming, provide opportunities for training in leadership, and acknowledge the achievements of local skaters.  We will also continue to organize fundraising opportunities and, as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization, gladly accept donations and sponsorships that can offset some of the costs for our member families.   

Our organization maintains the name Miami Skating Academy as we continue to promote community figure skating in the western/southwestern Ohio and greater Miami Valley region.
